» Field Service Application Architecture

FieldPower supports a 3-tier architecture that conforms to the following:

  • Discrete separation of presentation, transaction (business logic), and database tiers.
  • Each tier can be implemented using an arbitrary product, provided that product meets other technical requirements identified in this document.

FieldPower’s field service application architecture and customer service solution consists of multiple modules that smoothly integrate into existing systems. Both hosted (web based field service) and on premise systems are available.

This is the field service application architecture on premise solution

  • The Database Server, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, which can house millions of customer records obtained from any pre-existing source sits securely behind a firewall.
  • The Web Server, which serves as the interface between the call center representatives and field service technicians, and third party vendor systems. This server can be housed at the customer location or can be provided in a fully secure fashion from FieldPower's data center. Microsoft IIS latest version, using ASP.NET 3.5. A Model View Controller (MVC) approach is used.
  • The optional Financial Server which receives information from both the Database server and the Web server, produces and keeps track of invoices, accounts receivable and other financial information. This server normally resides at the FieldPower data center.
  • The optional Automated E-mail IVR Server, which keeps the customer informed of changes and alerts the field technicians and third party vendors to changes in scheduled events initiated from the call center. Automatic emails and telephone IVR calls are generated to notify all parties of changes.
  • Your internal systems, such as a SQL database. Data can be updated from the system either in real time or by a batch process.

A diagram of the FieldPower field service application architecture is represented below. This versatile architecture is highly scalable with built in redundancy and failover, and can support thousands of simultaneous users, including call centers in different locations, field service vendors representatives and field service technicians.
